6 ONLINE SITES TO REMASTER YOUR SUNO TRACK

Listen to this article:

POV: You have a Suno track, but decide you need to master it before giving it to the world. Many online start-ups are offering this service for a low fee, so don't feel you have to go out and buy yourself a fancy set-up. This week  I had a look at Emastered, Remasterify, Mixea, Sunomaster, Landr, and Bandlab and rank them in no particular order below* :

EMASTERED

Emastered is not free. Once you have listened to part of your remastered song, you have to sign up for a free account, which then tells you to “Purchase a subscription to hear and download your mastered audio track”. Subscriptions include unlimited mastering and unlimited distribution. And the options are £9/mo £15/mo £29/mo for the emastered Studio.

If you choose Distribution Only it’s $3.25/mo for up to 2 artists $7/mo for up to 5 artists. I’m not sure why there is a change of currency offered. All prices are plus VAT.

The track I uploaded had already been mastered at SunoMaster.com and tbh I heard no difference between the two**. The track stops playing at 1:30 and you’re then faced with the “Choose a plan to download” screen. Even if you close that window and hit the “Download button”, you cannot download the track without making a purchase.

**When I first tried the mastering, the settings were all at “Normal”. You are able to play around with the settings. Mastering Intensity, Compressor Intensity, Equalization Intensity,  Stereo Width, Volume, and Equalization can all be adjusted individually. You can play around with that to your heart’s content. This is where you can tell the differences.

REMASTERIFY

Remasterify The home page has some handy comparison songs Original/Mastered so you can get an idea of what might be possible. Generally everyone notices the volume change from the Suno downloaded .WAV or .MP3 file when a track is mastered.

There’s a lot of information on the home page extolling the virtues of what this site can do. Once I’d uploaded a track, and clicked the remaster button the track was ready for me to listen to in a few seconds. The layout is well presented. The track is at the top, and underneath the track it presents the ‘Sonic Profile’ of the track. Up to now, to my untrained ears, I didn’t know what any of that meant but apparently this track has song pitch D3, BPM is 162, Chord Key is C, and Danceability is 42%.

Once again, to my untrained ear, I couldn’t tell any difference between the Sunomaster version I uploaded and the Remasterify version. But once again, I had the options laid out on the screen underneath the track displaying  Mastering intensity, Stereo widening, Noise reduction. Automatic Equalization is either on or off, and there’s even a section for you to enter Meta Tags. Mastering Intensity has further options once you’ve decided to pay. Once you’ve decided on the options you want to tweak, you can Remaster the track again.

There’s a couple of different preset engines — AudioREM AI - Default, or AudioREM AI - SHWP4B, the first for low energy and the second for high energy. You can also select from Custom AI models once you’ve paid. Like Emastered, Remasterify does not permit any download until you’ve bought a plan, though it does permit you to listen to the whole track.

A yearly plan is £5.83 a month billed annually or £6.99 a month billed monthly for Unlimited Mastering from HD WAV, MP3, or MP4 Exports. Both plans include unlimited mastering, HD exports, support for audio up to 96kHz, and unlimited cloud storage.

MIXEA

https://distrokid.com/mixea/ Mixea is a minimal mastering suite from Distrokid. Upload a track, a few seconds later there’s an output ready to listen to. There was a distinct difference between what I uploaded and the new master. The new master seemed lighter, brighter,  less bass. You can then alter Intensity and EQ Options. The effect of changing these settings is instantly reflected in the WAV form. To download the track you at least have to sign up for a free account.

The download options are then Ultra HD 24 bit, High quality wav 16 bit, Medium Quality MP3 256kps. Your first mastered track is free. After that, it’s £6.58/mo
£78.99 billed annually to master unlimited tracks.

SUNOMASTER

The home page gives you a straight choice between Simple Mode or Advanced. Advanced can only be used if you sign up for a plan. Simple Mode gives you Automatic Loudness Normalization and
Basic EQ Balancing.  Simple Mode is Free. In this you drop a track, perhaps even a reference track, and press Remaster. A few seconds later the track is ready for you to play and compare with the uploaded track.

You hear the whole track before downloading it, but there are no extra tweaks that you can do in Simple Mode. Instead, Sunomaster says of itself “Transform your Suno AI tracks into radio-ready masters with intelligent adaptive processing. Reference matching analyzes professional tracks and applies their sonic signature—preserving dynamics while achieving competitive loudness.”

In my case I had a rock track, and I used Deep Purple’s classic Smoke On The Water for reference.
The result was quite a banger. You can play back the whole mastered track on the site. There’s no need to sign up to get your download which is available instantly in .WAV format, or after a few seconds more, in .MP3 format. You can keep using Simple Mode as long as you like. Simple Mode is 100% free with unlimited mastering and no watermarks.

So how does it work? Amongst its FAQs, Sunomaster says, “Your audio files never leave your computer. All processing happens 100% locally in your browser”.  Sunomaster says of Simple Mode, “Our engine analyzes the reference's frequency balance, dynamic range, and stereo imaging—then intelligently applies those characteristics to make your track sound professionally mastered.” Of Advanced mode it says, “Full studio mastering console with 6-band EQ, multiband compression, saturation, stereo imaging, and genre-specific presets. Includes "Universal (Suno Fix)" preset optimized for cleaning up common AI artifacts”. It also goes into more detail about this.

The developers are currently adding more features to the site; Lyrics Tool and Style Guide both of which are in Beta.

A payment of Euro28.99 gets you access to v1 and v2 engines for life with no restrictions. Alternatively it’s Euro9.99 per month. Currently that’s equivalent to around £25  / £8.64 a month. If you fancy SUNOMASTER advanced features enter ‘SunoManager28’ discount code at the checkout to get 20% off, making the price equivalent around £20 for life (Of course, they may put out updates after v1 and v2 for which you may have to pay extra).

LANDR

At Landr you’re immediately invited to upload a track. It then makes 30s of the track available to you to compare between uploaded and mastered. You’re then invited to tweak buttons for Style and Loudness, and press Create Master. You’re next prompted to sign up with an email address, payment options of Studio Standard annually at  £9.58 /month or Studio Pro at £12.80 /month, or “Skip for now”.  If you want to pay monthly it’s either £16 or £20 a month. Skip option doesn’t help if you want to download or play the whole track because you’re then rerouted on the site again to press you to pay. There is an option to pay for 1 downloaded .WAV track for £8.

BANDLAB

Bandlab‘s homepage is entitled “BandLab | FREE Instant Online Audio Mastering”. Near the top of the homepage you are invited to “IMPORT YOUR TRACKS”, and the first thing you have to do when following this prompt is give them Your name, Your email, Make up a password, and then give them your date of birth. So I’m already questioning “Instant” in their title. By return you get 2 emails. Next, you’re invited to choose a username, say what type of music related person you are, your favourite genres (tbh it would be easier to select what genres I don’t like), add up to 10 artists that inspire you, Creators to Follow (now here, I had not a clue and 4 unknown-to-me were available to select. These all had thousands of followers already so I suppose if I click All, I’ll just be adding to their numbers (Qué Será, Será).. Next I was asked to confirm my account email address. As there was an email already I confirmed it with that. Lo, and behold I’m taken back to “Let’s Set up Your Profile”, and I have to enter details again starting with username, then say who inspires me. Surprisingly, I next saw a Feed Page that looks remarkably like Facebook.

Remembering what I came to this site for, I looked for the  “IMPORT YOUR TRACKS” prompt. Nothing seemed to resemble this prompt, so I searched for “master a track” in the search box. A number of songs or albums happen to be called ‘Master Tracks’. Big up to ApolloMFskeeZ who rapped while I typed this blurb up (but don’t get too excited, I don’t appreciate rap or the constant repetition of “nigger” in the lyrics, or the “shit” word for that matter - I am aware that superstar Drake does this and he just dropped THREE albums into the Top 10 album charts, but this is still how I feel). Anyway, I gave up on Bandlab web site at this point, and went back to Google Search and clicked on Mastering under Bandlab under my Google search. Luckily for me I saw the “IMPORT YOUR TRACKS” prompt and this time I was allowed to upload a track. Instantly? Hardly, considering what I’d just been through.

The Mastering options are Universal, Fire, Clarity, Tape, Natural, Spatial, Cinematic and Punch. The first 4 selections are free, the rest you need to pay for — $99 a year for Pro, $199 a year for Max. Equal to £73.68 or £148.11.

I downloaded three versions of .WAV files - and tbf it didn’t take long once I’d got a (free) account set up. Quality - I’ll leave out judgment for now.
